I had dry, flaky skin that peeled endlessly because I was using lotion to moisturize my skin

Here are before and after pictures of my neck – the driest, most flaky area of my skin.

Looking at my skin today, it’s impossible to think that my skin used to be so dry and flaky.

Symptoms I no longer experience after healing my extremely dry and flaky skin:

  • Peeling skin
  • Dry skin flakes on my clothes that looked like dandruff
  • White, powdery appearance of skin
  • Scaly appearance of my skin
  • Scabs and bleeding

The turning point in my recovery was when I stopped using lotions.

I didn’t know this back then, but this is because lotion was the reason why my skin was constantly flaky and dry.

The reason why I used lotion to moisturize my skin was because I knew I had to do something for my flaky skin, but I hated the stickiness of regular moisturizers and creams.

I grew up in hot and humid climates too, so lotions felt much more comfortable and lightweight on my skin.

But that was my biggest mistake.

Instead of solving the problem, I was actually making my dry, flaky skin worse.

But after discovering the truth about lotions and changing my skincare, it’s hard to believe that I struggled with peeling, flaky skin all these years.

If you also struggle with dry and flaky skin, or if you’ve been using lotions without any results, keep reading!

Since elementary school, I had large dry patches on my skin that peeled

From the age of 3, my skin was very dry.

Originally, I had large dry patches on my elbow pit and the back of my knees.

These dry patches made my skin look scaly and worn out. These areas were also peeling off thin layers of skin. Thin, small pieces of dead skin would fall – just like the crumbs of a cookie.

It looked like I constantly had dandruff and I hated how unhygienic it made me look.

Especially when I wore black tops, the flaky skin that peeled off would stand out and I always had to brush them off my collar and shoulders.

Sometimes, they itched was so bad that I scratched my dry patches until they bled. This also made my flaky skin worse, since my skin would peel from the scars.

The hot and humid climates I was living in made my dry, flaky skin worse

I grew up in countries with high humidity.

I thought the humidity would moisturize my skin and solve my flaky skin problem. I thought sweating would moisturize my dry, flaky skin.

But the reality was the opposite.

Unfortunately, the humidity and sweating worsened my dry and flaky skin.

I didn’t know this back then, but when sweat evaporates, your skin’s natural hydration evaporates as well.

This means that my already-dry skin was becoming drier and flaking even more.

I never liked the stickiness of moisturizers, so I always used lotion to moisturize my skin

I hated how sticky and heavy my skin felt after moisturizing, especially living in hot and humid climates.

Eventually, I was only using lotion because they were the first step in my original skincare routine and were the most lightweight, breathable product.

What I didn’t understand at the time was that lotions are NOT moisturizers.

The purpose of lotion is …? The key is to effectively moisturize with ___ AND ___!

Despite lotions being branded as a moisturizing product, they have no real moisturizing effect

This is because the purpose of lotion is to hydrate, NOT to moisturize. Hydrating and moisturizing seem like synonyms, but in reality, they are quite different.

So what’s the difference between hydrating and moisturizing your skin?

Moisturizing means to keep your skin hydrated. In other words, it is to hydrate your skin AND maintain your skin’s hydrated state for a long period of time.

Lotion might provide initial hydration, but this is only temporary. They cannot maintain hydration in your skin.

This is because lotion is 95%+ water. No matter how much lotion you apply, it quickly evaporates from your skin because it’s basically just water with a sprinkle of other ingredients. And when this water evaporates, it strips your skin’s natural moisture too – just like when sweat evaporates.

Without anything to prevent water evaporation, your skin will remain dry.

“So how can I prevent water evaporation and retain moisture inside my skin?”

The answer is to effectively moisturize.

To effectively moisturize means to replenish your skin with WATER AND OIL at the same time: water for hydration and oil to create a barrier that seals your skin’s moisture inside.

The reason why lotion wasn’t moisturizing my dry, flaky, peeling skin is because lotion doesn’t contain oil-based ingredients to prevent hydration from evaporating. By relying so much on lotion, I was drying out my already-dry skin and making it flakier.

No wonder my dry and flaky skin wasn’t getting better.

That’s when my mother introduced me to this effective moisturizer.

This became the turning point in getting rid of my dry, flaky skin.

My skin healed within weeks! It was impossible to believe how flaky my skin was in the past

Obeying my mother, I applied this effective moisturizer every day.

As someone who despised the stickiness and heaviness of moisturizers, I was pleasantly surprised that this effective moisturizer had a gel texture. It wasn’t sticky and didn’t leave a residue on my skin. It was soothing, light, and breathable, so it was easy for me to consistently use it.

Within weeks, I noticed that my skin wasn’t as dry or as flaky anymore.

  • My skin was smoother
  • My clothes weren’t covered in dry skin flakes that looked like dandruff
  • My skin didn’t look scaly
  • My skin wasn’t white or powdery
  • My scabs had healed

The results were drastic in the best way possible. Even the people around me had noticed how much healthier my skin looked. The areas where I used to have large dry patches got smaller and soon disappeared.

I thought these effects were temporary but I was wrong.

Even after sweating from spending a whole day outside in the hot, humid air, my skin never went back to its original dry, flaky state. After changing how I moisturized my skin – from using lotion to an effective moisturizer that replenishes water and oil – I was able to get rid of my dry, flaky skin completely.

That’s why I’m so glad I didn’t give up.

Although it took a while for my skin to show results, I achieved long-lasting effects by sticking to this effective moisturizer and consistently using it.

But what makes this effective moisturizer different from other products? How come it got rid of my flaky skin problems that lotion couldn’t?

The secret lies in its water-to-oil ratio.

This effective moisturizer has a golden water-to-oil ratio that strengthens your skin’s barrier function

This effective moisturizer is formulated with an excellent, golden water-to-oil ratio of 8:2

This perfected formula replenishes your skin with ample hydration, as well as good quality oils that lock the hydration within your skin to prevent evaporation SIMULTANEOUSLY.

Without oils, the water only provides temporary hydration and quickly evaporates, taking your skin’s natural water content with it too.

Without water, the oil fundamentally cannot moisturize your skin.

This effective moisturizer takes these two essential components to effective moisturizing and replenishes them to your skin at the same time.

By preventing water evaporation from your skin with good quality oils and retaining that water in your skin for a long period of time, your skin’s barrier function will soon recover as well.

The stronger your skin’s barrier function is, the faster your skin will heal to its normal state.

As I mentioned earlier, lotions may have been effective for hydration, but they didn’t contain any oils to complete the second step in effective moisturization: to prevent moisture evaporation.

No wonder why my skin never healed with lotion.

To this day, I continue to use this effective moisturizer and have maintained my smooth, hydrated, and healthy skin. I’ve tried using trendy moisturizers since, but I keep going back to this one.

For those of you with extremely flaky skin or similar skin struggles, I wholeheartedly sympathize with you.

“Nothing works – my dry, flaky skin can’t be helped.”

“Will I have to live with flaky skin forever?”

If you’ve ever felt this way, believe me, I’ve been there too.

But after using this product, my dry and flaky skin has healed.

I truly hope sharing my experience helps you, no matter how small the impact may be.
